Tax Write Offs That May Help Your Business: 2012
As we go into the holiday season, spending will go up across the board. Coming out of an election, we should have a great end to the year across the board throughout all industries. Knowing the end of the year is coming, many businesses will start preparing for tax time. Below I have a list of write offs that many small businesses don’t know exist.
Those customers that don’t pay: If your business sells goods (service driven businesses can’t claim this as a deduction) and you have a customer that receives their item, but doesn’t pay for it; that can be written off as a tax deduction.
Start-up Costs: If you are a new business, pretty much anything you have to purchase to get you going can be counted in this deduction. Up to $10,000 can be deducted from the first year you are in business, or can be deducted in equal increments for a period of 15 years.
Interest: Interest that you pay in order to purchase something for your business is deductible. All of your interest will be covered under certain circumstances.
