With only one race left in the Sprint cup series; drivers are biting their nails in anticipation for next week’s race at Homestead. Drivers Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards are the only two left in contention for this year’s cup.
Tony Stewart (Columbus, Indiana native) is looking to obtain his 3rd Sprint cup series championship. Tony is currently second in the standings behind Carl Edwards. Stewart has won titles throughout his career in Indy cars and Stock cars as well as midget, sprint, and USAC silver crown cars. Tony Stewart is arguably one of the best, well- rounded racers of his generation.
Although Carl Edwards (Columbia, Missouri native) does not have any previous Sprint cup series championships under his belt; he did win the 2007 Bush series championship. Carl Edwards also participates in the Nationwide and Truck series as well.
Homestead is classified as an intermediate track course. Tony Stewart has raced 282 intermediate track races, with 23 wins and an average finish of 12.2. Carl Edward has only raced 168 intermediate track races, with 17 wins however; his average finish is 11.7. With Tony Stewart only 3 points behind Carl Edwards; the race at Homestead next weekend will definitely be one to watch.
